FLO Layered Tennis Skort in white for tennis and padel in Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR has become one of the best places in India to pick up a racquet or roll out a mat. Padel courts have opened across the region, tennis has a long history here, and Pilates studios have spread well beyond South Delhi. This is our guide to where to play and move, written from home in New Delhi.

A quick note before we start. Courts and studios open, move and change often. Rather than list businesses that may not be there next season, we have named a few long-standing public places and described the areas where you will find the rest. Always check timings, booking and membership rules before you go.

Padel courts in Delhi NCR

Padel is the fastest-growing racquet sport in the region. It is easy to learn, social by nature, since it is played in doubles, and the smaller court means you get into rallies quickly even as a beginner.

Where to look

  • Gurugram: much of the region’s padel scene is here, especially around Golf Course Road, Golf Course Extension Road and Sohna Road, often inside sports clubs and on rooftops.
  • South Delhi: courts have appeared in and around sports complexes, farmhouses and clubs in the Chhatarpur, Mehrauli and Saket belt.
  • Noida: newer sports facilities in the sectors along the Noida Expressway have added padel courts.
  • West and North Delhi: fewer options so far, but growing.

Most courts are booked by the hour through apps or directly with the venue. Many offer racquet hire and beginner sessions. If you are new, a coached session is the quickest way to learn the rules and the walls.

Tennis in Delhi NCR

Delhi has a strong tennis culture, with public complexes, club courts and coaching academies across the city.

  • R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium, Africa Avenue: home of the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association, and one of the city’s best-known tennis venues, with coaching programmes.
  • Siri Fort Sports Complex: a large DDA sports complex in South Delhi with tennis among many other sports, open to members and pay-and-play users.
  • DDA sports complexes across the city: many neighbourhoods have one, often with tennis courts and coaching.
  • Gurugram and Noida: tennis courts are common in residential societies, clubs and schools that open their facilities for coaching.

If you are new to Delhi tennis, a coaching programme at a public complex is a good way to meet regular players. Our guide on what to wear for tennis and padel covers the kit.

Pilates studios in Delhi NCR

Pilates has grown fast, with mat classes and reformer studios across the region.

Where to look

  • South Delhi: Hauz Khas, Greater Kailash, Vasant Vihar, Defence Colony and Shanti Niketan have a concentration of reformer and mat studios.
  • Central Delhi: a handful of boutique studios around Khan Market, Jor Bagh and Sundar Nagar.
  • Gurugram: DLF phases, Golf Course Road and Sector 29 have many studios.
  • Noida: newer studios in the central sectors and along the Expressway.

Try a few studios before committing. Look for certified instructors, small class sizes and a beginner class or private intro. Mat Pilates is a good, lower-cost way to start.

Running, walking and outdoor movement

Not everything needs a booking. Some of the city’s best spaces to move are free public gardens:

  • Lodhi Garden: a favourite for early-morning walks and runs among historic tombs.
  • Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri: wide lawns and loops, popular with runners and outdoor workout groups.
  • Sunder Nursery: landscaped gardens near Humayun’s Tomb, good for a slow walk.

Go early. Delhi summers are fierce by 9am, and winter air quality is usually better at certain times of day. Check the AQI before outdoor sessions. Our Indian summer guide has more on training in the heat.

Finding your people

Moving with others makes it easier to keep going, and more fun. FLO is also a wellness community in New Delhi, built around a few clubs:

  • FLO/ACTIVE Tennis Club
  • FLO Padel Club
  • FLO Girls Golf Club
  • FLO Sunday Club
  • FLO Breakfast Club

If you are a coach, instructor or practitioner, see Community Discounts. If you create content or teach, FLO Partners may be a good fit. For anything else, write to us at growth@floactive.in.

What to bring

  • Court or studio shoes, or grip socks for reformer Pilates.
  • A skirt, skort or shorts for the court. The Pleated Tennis Skirt and Layered Tennis Skort were made for it.
  • A set or legging and bra for the studio, like the Contrast Set.
  • A light layer for early mornings and winter evenings.
  • Water, and a small towel.

Then all that is left is to book, show up and play.
