Matching Workout Sets: How to Wear a Co-ord Set
Why a matching set is the easiest outfit you own, and five ways to wear one.

A matching workout set is the closest thing activewear has to a uniform. Two pieces, one colour, no decisions. Pull it on and you look put-together, whether you are heading to a 7am class or out for coffee afterwards. This guide covers why co-ord sets work, how to choose one and how to wear it beyond the gym.
Why matching workout sets work
- They remove decisions. On a busy morning, one less choice matters.
- They look intentional. A matching top and bottom reads as an outfit, not just gym clothes.
- They lengthen the body. One continuous colour creates a clean, unbroken line.
- They mix. Each piece also works on its own with the rest of your wardrobe.
How to choose a co-ord set
Start with colour
For your first set, choose a colour you will wear often. Black and navy are the easiest to style and the most forgiving in daily wear. White feels fresh and works well on court and in summer. A deeper colour like maroon adds warmth and looks good in autumn and winter.
Think about your main activity
If you mostly do Pilates, yoga or strength work, a sports bra and legging set is the most versatile. For tennis and padel, a crop or tank with a skirt or skort works better. Whatever you choose, the fabric should stretch, dry quickly and stay opaque.
Get the fit right on both pieces
Your top and bottom may not be the same size, and that is normal. Check the size guide for each piece. For sets sold as one product, choose the size that fits your bra band and waist best, and use the size guide on the product page to compare.
The Contrast Set
Our Contrast Set pairs the Contrast Sports Bra with the Contrast Stripe Legging in one colour. Both are made in our performance core, a nylon-spandex blend with four-way stretch that dries quickly and stays opaque through deep squats. It comes in sizes XS to XL in four colours: Navy, Black, White and Maroon.
Prefer to build your own? The Contrast Sports Bra and Contrast Stripe Legging are also sold on their own in every colour, so you can match exactly or mix.
Five ways to wear a matching set
1. As it is, for training
The simplest option. Add trainers, a scrunchie and a water bottle. This is what a set is made for.
2. With a structured jacket
Throw the Sculpt Zip Jacket over your set for the commute or a café stop after class. Zipped up, it looks like a full outfit. Open, it frames the set.
3. With an oversized shirt
A crisp white or striped cotton shirt, left open over a set, is an easy weekend look. Add sliders or clean sneakers and a tote.
4. Split it up
Wear the legging with an oversized tee and the bra under a wrap top like the Ballet Wrap Top. Two pieces become two outfits.
5. Mix two sets
Pair a navy bra with white leggings, or black with maroon. Because the colours are designed to work together, mixing feels considered rather than random.
Styling tips
- Keep accessories minimal so the set stays the focus.
- Match your socks to your trainers, not your set.
- A neutral layer, like a tan or chocolate sweatshirt, softens a bold colour.
- In winter, add a midlayer and wide-leg sweatpants over the legging for the walk home.
Matching sets through the Indian year
A set works in every season with a few small changes. In the heat of April to June, wear it as it is for early-morning sessions and choose white or a lighter colour for outdoor training. In the monsoon, darker colours like navy and black hide splashes and dry quickly. From November to February, add a zip jacket or a midlayer on top and a pair of wide-leg sweatpants over the legging for the walk home on cold Delhi mornings.
Building a small set wardrobe
You do not need a set in every colour. Two sets that work together give you more outfits than four that do not. A simple plan:
- Start with one dark set, like black or navy, for daily training.
- Add one light or warm set, like white or maroon, for court days and weekends.
- Mix the tops and bottoms across both sets for four combinations.
- Add one structured layer that goes with everything.
That is a week of outfits from five pieces, with almost no thought in the morning.
Caring for your set
Wash both pieces together so they fade at the same rate and stay matched. Turn them inside out, wash cold with similar colours, skip fabric softener and line dry in the shade. Our activewear care guide has more.
One set, many days
A good matching set earns its place by being worn often. Training, errands, a long-haul flight, a lazy Sunday. When a set fits well and feels good, it becomes the outfit you reach for first. That is the kind of piece we like to make: fewer things, worn more.
